"When I want to be more abstract than usual, I use a lot of free-hand techniques. However, if I have very descriptive parts, I need references. I try to go as underground as possible with my references. Sometimes I go to second-hand bookstores and look through old books, tear out a page or two, and take them with me, rather than relying solely on the internet. You can also find references at the library."
